Hill, Mary Terrance, ne Luke, January 20, 2015, after seven years residence at the Hallowell House, Picton, Ontario,
Canada, age 91 after a challenging Canadian life as a homemaker in Vineland Station, St. Catharines, Elliot Lake,
Belleville and Brockville, Ontario. Born August 20, 1923, Bangor, Wales, worked in London in the war effort during
WWII, met Thomas Peter Weist Hill, Sussex England c 1946 when he worked on a farm on the Isle of Anglesey
after six years in the British Army VI Commando, during which he was wounded and captured in North Africa and imprisoned
for two years in Italy and Germany. Married at St. Mary's Church, Bangor September 10, 1947 by Vicar John Eastwood, wedding
dinner at the British Hotel, emigrated to Canada 1948. Peter died in 1985. Daughter of William Edward Luke, Menai Bridge
master painter, and Mary Emily Luke (Thomas) of Bangor Wales, sister to Claude and three sisters including Gwen and
Jenny. Parents of Alban Claude (Goddard Hill, Belleville Ontario), (the late) Randal Douglas, and (the late, d. July 20, 2015)
Valerie Ingrid (Hill) Kaldes. Grandmother of Susan, Tim, Elizabeth, and Michael. Great grandmother of Connor and Reilly. A religious
woman, sang in Anglican church choirs but something of a non conformist, well spoken and a proud speaker of
the Welsh language. She passed on all of those attributes save the latter.
