DR. RAOLD GARY SEREBRIN
Obituary
DR. RAOLD GARY SEREBRIN Died peacefully at home on September 21, 2016 at age 63, after a swift battle with Cholangiocarcinoma.
Over the course of his medical career, Raold touched countless lives in his care - but it was his marriage to Patty, whom
he described as the "loveliest, kindest, most considerate and selfless girl who ever lived" and the raising of his
two daughters, Kara and Kylie (of whom he was endlessly and unconditionally proud) that he considered to be his greatest accomplishments.
Raold's family and friends knew him as an unfailingly gentle, incredibly strong, even-tempered, generous and thoughtful
person, whose philosophy: "Do what you believe is right and good. Be kind and help others." was unwavering. Though
soft-spoken (his daughters never heard him raise his voice), his razor-sharp intellect, quick wit, silly puns and cheeky mannerisms
made everyone feel like they were in on his private jokes.
In his last months, Raold expressed no fear or anger. Rather, he spent his days with his family, sun-soaked in the pool
and rocking in his hammock, bravely emanating joy and gratitude at "having lived a charmed life, filled with everything
he ever wanted."
Raold is survived by his parents, Harold and Lola Serebrin; his wife, Patricia Serebrin; his daughters, Kara and Kylie
Serebrin; his sons-in-law Brad Gerard and Steve McCalla; his siblings, Wayne (and Cathy), Brent (and Lisa) and Shelley Serebrin
and his dogs, Noah and Finnigan.
A celebration of Raold's life will be planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, anyone who wishes to honour Raold's
memory could make a donation to the Toronto General Hospital Liver Transplant Unit (www.tgwhf.ca/card-builder) or the Canadian
Cancer Society (www.cancer.ca/en/donate)
"And now here is my secret, a very simple secret: It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential
is invisible to the eye." - The Little Prince
